Basic Christology - Introduction

"Then I said, 'Behold, I come;
in the scroll of the book it is written of me.'"

Psalm 40:7  (See also Hebrews 10:7.)

These words were spoken by Jesus Christ.  The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is about Him.  He is the central theme of the holy Scriptures.  Yet even the sixty-six books of the Bible do not tell the complete story.

"And there are also many other things that Jesus did,
which if they were written one by one,
I suppose that even the world itself could not contain
the books that would be written."
John 21:25.

Christology is a branch of systematic theology.  The word itself means the study of Christ.  Authors of systematic theology textbooks usually define it more narrowly as the study of the person and work of Jesus Christ.
